When it comes to exercise, having a dedicated space can make all the difference!
Creating a dedicated and dreamy exercise area in your home can help you stay motivated, focused and committed to your fitness goals.
Here are my TOP 5 tips for creating your ideal exercise space that will help you stay on track to achieving your fitness goals.
The first step is to ensure that you have enough room to move around comfortably. When you lay down and stretch your arms and legs out fully, make sure that you can do so without touching anything. Then draw a “snow angel” out to the sides, ensuring you still have enough room! This will ensure that you have enough room to fully move. There's nothing more annoying than starting an exercise and hitting your arm/leg/foot on the wall and having to reposition!
Write your goals and affirmations on a piece of paper and hang them on the wall of your workout space. This is also a great place to put up your wellness vision board too! Having these positive reminders where you can see them every time you work out is a fantastic way to stay motivated and stick to your fitness plan. Use your exercise space to inspire yourself and your eyes will stay on the prize.
Adding your favourite plant to your exercise space can help you feel refreshed and calm. Including your favourite colours and textures in the space will give you a sense of comfort, helping you to relax into your workout. My favourite plants to add are a fiddle leaf fig, ficus or monstera.
Feeling comfortable on your mat is so important, particularly when your hands, elbows and knees are supporting you during an exercise. Carpet is always a great choice as it, of course, is softer than floor boards or concrete. If you don’t have carpet or something soft, pop some foam (or another mat) down under your primary mat! This will give you extra padding and up the comfort level.
Optimal lighting is crucial for your workout space. Natural light is the best, as it’ll help you wake up and concentrate. For those of you who love to exercise early, did you know that sunlight actually stops melatonin production?! If you exercise is direct light or by a window, just make sure to remember the SPF! Having enough light, even if it's artificial, will also stop your eyes from straining when you look at the screen to follow your FIITLATES On Demand workout!
Follow these 5 easy tips and you'll easily create an exercise space that you love working out in. It will give you such a motivation boost that you'll look forward to using it every single day!
